We are excited to announce the launch of our pathway to school program, STARS (School Transition And Readiness Skills) in partnership with UGDSB. STARS is specifically designed to equip students with the tools they need to transition and succeed in a mainstream classroom setting. At our core, we believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive academically and socially, and that starts with a strong foundation of skills and knowledge. With STARS, your child can build confidence, improve their communication, personal care abilities, and develop the readiness necessary to succeed in a classroom and school setting.
Our STARS program is located within two elementary schools, STARS North in Shelburne and STARS South in Orangeville. Our program supports students from Kindergarten to Grade 2 who will benefit from an ABA therapeutic learning setting. Our classrooms are open from 9:15am to 2:30pm, five days a week, reflecting a traditional school day. Throughout the program, we place a strong emphasis on open communication with families and community schools to ensure the STARS program’s goal of a smooth and successful transition back into your child’s community school.
Each of our STARS therapeutic classrooms is staffed with a Behaviour Solutions ABA Therapist, who is supported by our staff Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Each STARS classroom also includes an Upper Grand District School Board Certified Teacher, who provides math and literacy instruction, and an UGDSB Educational Assistant for additional classroom support. Our classroom environment mirrors a typical school setting, providing students with the opportunity to work on school readiness skills such as following classroom routines, social skills, group play, and independent learning skills.
